Melodic rockers Harbourlight have released their new album just in time for the holiday season. The evocatively titled Mystery Story follows strongly from their 2008 debut Come Home, and the expression of faith entwined with real-life experience is just as evident in the new music.
"The journey has been bumpy and exhausting, but with lots of encouragement from so many people we've managed to bring out a record we're proud of, and we're really happy and relieved now" says Shaun Jacobs, chief songwriter and lead singer of the band.
The band's sound has been developed and refined, while staying in line with the anthemic, moody soundscapes that Harbourlight are known for. Songs like Messiah, This is Love and Closer provide energy throughout the album, set carefully against the emotive tracks like Thread and Living for This.
In the four short years they've been around, southern Johannesburg-based Harbourlight have worked hard both in the recording studio and on the live music scene, playing at churches and university campuses around the country.
The band are gearing up for a national tour in the first quarter of 2011, including all of South Africa's major centres. Singles for secular and Christian radio have been lined up for submission.
Mystery Story is available now at Gospel Direct and many other music stores nationwide.
