Pinches of sand

Pinches of sand

Well you might have noticed that we don't really have lot's of gig dates on the site at the moment. All the gigs we were lining up for July somehow fell through, except for Cape Town on 31 July... Yay! There will be another gig at another venue In Cape Town for either 1 or 2 August as well, but we don't have final details yet so we haven't put it up yet. We're really looking forward to this trip and we have been practicing a really cool set list, organising sound and lights and we're setting up for an awesome ::hblt:: concert. If you have friends in Cape Town please tell them about the event, if you're in Cape Town; we hope to see you there :)

Seeing as we're going through a quiet patch gig-wise we have some extra time to prepare for going into studio for album two. I have already been putting down some demos and ideas in studio, and we will probably officially go into studio as a band either later this month or at the beginning of August. We'll keep you posted with videos, pics and the works when we get there.

The other day I was trying to get some sand out of the cable trench in the studio floor – all the cables run from the sound desk to the microphones and computer and amps etc through a trench in the floor with a cover over it, and somehow these termite type things (I'm not David Attenborough) had built a nest in that trench, hauling in loads of sand, burrying all the cables and making a real mess. Having dealt with the termite type things the sand now has to be dealt with. So I started clearing out the sand. The problem I found was that my hand is too big to fit in the trench and scoop up a fistful of sand. The only way I could do it was with thumb and forefinger, which means you only get a pinch out at a time. Now you have to understand, we're not just talking a little bit of sand, we're talking shovel loads of sand. Try take out shovel loads of sand out a pinch at a time.... So while I was sitting on my butt sighing at how long it was taking to pinch out the sand, I started thinking how this was a bit like God's grace. Except that God's grace would be more like the ocean, and my pinches like a bucket. If I were to fetch buckets of water from the ocean and pour them out onto the beach, I'm not going to make any difference in the amount of water in the ocean.

Sometimes we feel we've used up God's grace for us. We've messed up too bad and His grace must have run out by now. Well, we've actually just been taking buckets of water out of the ocean – you'll never be able to empty it. So if you feel you've messed up too bad, and this time it's too much for God's grace and love, just think about the ocean for a bit. Let God's grace cover you, and let His grace enable and empower you to repent (= stop sinning and change direction) and live right. When we blow it, His grace is enough, but it is also enough to help us get victory in the areas we keep blowing it, and so we inch closer and closer to being more like Him.

Cool, I need to get ready for practice.

Yeah! Don't you just love how

Yeah!
Don't you just love how the Lord speaks through the pinches of sand and the buckets of sea water in our lives!?
Looking forward to the next album!
Thanks!
