On the ground again

Well we're back home in Jo'burg after our mini tour to Cape Town. We had such an amazing time down there. It was our first time ever flying with our guitars and stuff, and we were quite worried that I (Shaun) might get pulled off the plane for trying to sneak a bomb on board in the form of my pedal box (which we thought could easily look like a bomb to them through the scanny thing they do, with funny block things and wires running everywhere), but all seemed to go perfectly smoothly and in no time we were in the air and on our way.

We arrived to 34 degrees of Cape Town, and in being frugal we had booked the lowest bracket of rental cars meaning there would be no aircon. By God's grace those cars had not been returned yet, so they hadd to give us aircon cars, at the no aircon price. It's amazing how God sometimes gives us little blessings in the smallest detail - in fact He's probably doing it all the time, we just so easily don't see it.

First gig was at the Amphitheatre at the V&A Waterfront, where we were playing at a Habitat for Humanity event. The place was full, and there were a number of passers by who stopped to listen. An amazing opportunity to sing our songs that proclaim the name of Jesus in a secular environment. We trust that the words hit home with some of the people who stopped by to check it out.

Sunday morning we made our way up table mountain (in the cable car). Ash really wanted to go seeing as it was his first time in Cape Town, and we got an amazing view that day, seeing both a sea of clouds out over one section, and having a clear sky to look out over another part of the city. We got the best of both. Truly beautiful and majestic.

We then rushed down to get to Joshua Generation in Table View for sound check, and only after driving for 30 mins did we realise that Table View is not quite in Cape Town. Mmmm. So we got there a little late for soundcheck, but with the help of the sound guys who had a great system and did a great job, all was set up in time and ready to go. It was a fantastic night of just worshipping God, and putting all the focus on Him. It is always amazing to look out from stage and see people's faces light up with God's presence, and you can see Him touching them. That's more beautiful than the view from the mountain :)

We are just so thankful for the opportunity we we're given. Driving home from Craig's place this morning I was just so aware of how blessed we are, and how rich God's blessing is. It fills our hearts with joy, and humbles us to our knees.

Thank you everyone in Cape Town for your support; it was great getting to meet you and spend time in God's presence together. We will be putting up some pics and video clips from the trip as soon as we've got it edited.

Don't forget about our tell a friend competition, some people have been very busy telling friends, awesome! Still a way to go till Feb is over.....
